In 2005, Mark came out publicly as gay. At the time, he also revealed he was in a relationship with British fashion photographer Kevin McDaid, who previously performed with boyband V.
The couple announced they were engaged in 2010, but a year later confirmed they had separated.
Relationship with fiancé Cailean O’Neill
In 2017, Mark exclusively revealed to RSVP Live that he was in a relationship with Cailean O’Neill – however, he is not involved in the showbiz industry and prefers to stay away from the spotlight.
Mark told us at the time: “I’m dating an Irishman now so it’s good for both of us to be back in Ireland and our families are close.
“We’ve been together for four years now, so it’s been quite a while and I’m very happy.”
The couple got engaged in the Maldives in February 2019, but have yet to walk down the aisle.
Being a father of a daughter Layla
In May 2019, Mark revealed he and Cailean were expecting a baby together after years of exploring options to start a family of their own.
Baby Layla was born via surrogacy in October of the same year, and Mark regularly shares adorable family photos together on his Instagram page.
The Westlife star has been a prominent voice in the movement to call for surrogacy legislation in Ireland.
Because Layla was born via surrogacy and the couple had to travel overseas for the process, in Ireland there is currently no legislation and under Irish law the surrogate is considered the mother legal.
Mark feels this needs to change to accommodate all families in the country, not just the “traditional” ones, hoping his daughter can grow up in a more equal world and that she and other children born through surrogacy need to be recognized by the State.

Signs in the clue packets that indicate it could be Mark include references to Wild Wild West referencing Westlife and line dancing clues could relate to Mark’s house in Sligo which he has up for sale, which includes a two-level ranch house and a ‘cowboy bath’.
Other popular guesses for Robobunny are blue singer Lee Ryan and Olympic diver Tom Daley, but nothing will be confirmed until the mask is removed.
