Westlife star Mark Feehily pays tribute to ‘legend’ Gay Byrne and says he was ‘so nice’ when he came out

WESTLIFE singer Mark Feehily has paid tribute to ‘legend’ Gay Byrne by saying he was ‘so nice’ to him after he came out as gay.

Mark and his fiancé Cailean O’Neill welcomed their daughter Layla into the world via surrogacy in 2019.

The Sligo native took to his Instagram today to pay tribute to the late RTE presenter.

In the black and white photo he shared, Mark stood in front of a huge poster of Gay.

He wore a jacket and cap in the photo and pointed to Gay’s photo.

Mark praised Gay in his post saying he used his Late Late Show platform to spread positive messages.

The full post read: “I saw this beautiful big photo of Gay Byrne and had to stop to remember what a legend this man was and always will be!

“So kind to me in a TV interview right after my release and so determined to convey his support and approval to me and viewers, using his platform to send a positive message to his huge fan base!

“He was ahead of the game and his incredible work still sets the standards today.”

Mark’s fans and friends flocked to his Instagram comments section to share their love for the post.

Simon commented, saying, “legend Hope you’re doing well.”

Manja said, “Beautiful image. I love it.”

Tracey wrote: “Yes it’s a legend.”

While Mitch also commented saying, “You look good mate Mark.”

It comes after Mark recently shared a rare video of his daughter having ‘happy dad and daughter time’.

In the video, the young girl leads her father on a bike path in a park and she runs.

She wears a cute wine beanie with denim jeans and a black jacket.

Midway through the video, Layla turned to make sure her dad was following her.
