Sunrise stars recreate viral Backstreet Boys I Want It That Way scene from Brooklyn Nine-Nine to show what REALLY goes on behind the scenes of the breakfast show

Sunrise stars Natalie Barr, David Koch and Edwina Bartholomew have recreated a scene from the popular American sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The “joke video” features Channel Seven’s cast and crew perfectly in sync with the original, which features the show’s characters singing lines to the Backstreet Boys hit I Want It That Way.

In a short clip posted to the show’s Instagram page, the Sunrise crew attempted to show what really goes on behind the scenes of the breakfast show.

The video begins with a producer asking each member of the Sunrise film crew to sing a line from the Backstreet Boys hit.

The scene then cuts to welcome Natalie Barr and David Koch on the Sunrise couch.

The two hosts can be seen singing and rocking to the pop song, before being joined by a “chorus line” of the cast and crew.

Another moment in the comedy clip features Edwina Bartholomew throwing everything she has into her role.

Sunrise’s Mark Beretta, who is currently on assignment in Birmingham to cover the Commonwealth Games, joined in the comments section to praise the clip.

‘It’s so good!! What a talent you have!” exclaimed the sports commentator.

“Absolutely brilliant,” added one fan, while another enthused, “this is the nest I’ve seen in ages.”

The original Brooklyn Nine-Nine scene first aired in 2018.

In order to weed out the right culprit from a list of suspects, a detective asks each of the men to sing a line from Backstreet Boy’s hit.

Success on YouTube, the scene attracted 28 million views.

Meanwhile, the video was a welcome welcome back to the office for Edwina, who returned to Brekky Central on Monday after taking five months of maternity leave.

“Edwina is back and the Commonwealth Games are on, so there’s no better reason to do a team warm-up,” the sunrise team captioned the photo.

The 39-year-old and her husband, Neil Varcoe, welcomed baby Thomas while he was away. They are also parents to daughter Molly, born in late 2019.

Edwina, who was previously a traveling weathercaster before being promoted to the news desk, said it was “lovely” to be back in the studio.
