Spanish radio chat show calls BTS ‘Chinese street boys’ and angers fans

BTS fans, who identify as ARMY, are outraged after K-pop sensation BTS was called “Chinese backstreet boys” during a chat show on a Spanish radio channel.

During the talk show on Esto no es Radio, one of the speakers ridicules BTS as Chinese street boys, raising the hedgehogs of ARMY members, who took to social media to condemn the channel for its hatred against Asians and xenophobia.

The video of the show where the speakers ostensibly speak in Spanish and ridicule BTS has now gone viral on the internet. A Twitter user who was offended by the insulting remarks for BTS translated the conversation that took place in the chat show, alleging that the remarks made by the speakers against BTS were xenophobic in nature. The user also asked others to report the radio channel.

Another BTS fan said being racist, xenophobic and making fun of other people’s culture is not funny. “Shut your filthy mouths and what’s going on with the radio hosts who are vocal with their racism lately?” the user asked.

A Twitter user who seemed outraged by the comments on the chat show tweeted: “This is fucking disgusting. Racism in any form is NOT humor. This is the 21st century I thought we knew it,” she tweeted with hashtags calling for an end to hate against Asians and saying xenophobia is not humor.

A Twitter user said the remarks were not just an attack on BTS but on the entire Asian community.

Then there were others who weren’t so civil in criticizing the speakers who made fun of BTS.

Many other BTS fans also criticized Spanish radio for allowing its platform to be used by people who promote and support racism and xenophobia against Asians.
