Jimmie Allen joins Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter for ‘Easy’ collab

Jimmie Allen is once again showing cross-genre collaboration with a guest appearance on “Easy,” a new solo song from Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter.

Breezy and romantic, the new song draws on R&B influences, octave-defying vocal leads, and a grown-up take on the kind of sweet-sweet pop sensibility that was Carter’s bread and butter in his boy band days. Although he and Allen come from very different musical backgrounds, they have common ground when it comes to the subject of the song: “Easy” is a love letter to family life, and Allen and Carter are both husbands and fathers of young children.

I swear you’ve got something special, my love / It’s from above / I’ll never give up on you / ‘Cause you do it, you make it easy,Carter croons as he launches into the chorus of the song.

Carter and Allen’s partnership began as a mutual fandom, the pop legend explains in an interview with Country Now. After the pop singer realized that he and Allen had a mutual acquaintance, they bonded and finished writing the song.

“I am very happy [with] where he went. It’s something that I can dedicate to my kids and my wife,” Carter reflects. “It’s something that maybe they can also look back, when they get older, and listen and say, like, ‘Oh, you know, dad wrote that for us.'”

Allen’s involvement doesn’t stop with songwriting and vocal credits: he’s also featured in the upcoming “Easy” music video. Carter explains that the clip was shot over a weekend in the desert surrounding Las Vegas, and like the song itself, it’s a family affair.

“We’re going to take our trucks out into the desert, my son is going to take his dirt bike out, and we’re just going to set it up and film it,” Carter told Country Now before filming.
