Drake joins the Backstreet Boys in Toronto for “I Want It That Way”

Drake is now an honorary member of the Backstreet Boys.

During a stop on the band’s DNA tour in Toronto on Saturday night, the rapper took to the stage to sing along to the boy band’s 1999 hit I want it this way .

After the quintet brought Drake – whom they dubbed their ‘sixth member’ – in front of the nearly sold-out crowd at Budweiser Stage, the Grammy winner opened up about why the band meant so much to him when he was young.

“At 13 I had a bar mitzvah, and at my bar mitzvah, for the first time in my life, this girl I was in love with came up to me while one of the greatest songs in the world was playing, and she asked me if I wanted to dance with her,” he said. “It was the first time I felt recognized, and it was the first time I felt like, you know, I had a chance to be cool.”

He then added, “If she can see me now…”

Drake shared a clip of himself singing the last lines of the song on his Instagram with the caption, “ When she says she’s done with the men of this generation and asks why I live alone…

The Backstreet Boys, which consists of members Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson, also inserted excerpts from Drake’s hit. Wait, we’re coming home in the representation.

On social media, fans reacted enthusiastically to the collaboration, with one person writing: “ Wow the dream come true “, while another added:” It’s incredible .”

Kim’s Convenience Actor Andrew Phung also posted a clip on Twitter featuring Drake encouraging fans to sing along.
