Rising country star Baylee Littrellson of Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys, chatted with musical chaos on what fans can expect from the Backstreet Boys’ upcoming Christmas album, A Very Clandestine Christmasto be released on October 14.
“This Christmas record is probably the best Christmas album ever,” Littrell said. “I can’t wait for people to hear this. I love Michael Bublé’s Christmas record and it’s generally like a top 10 favorite. This for me is like up there with it.
He revealed some of his favorite tracks from the album, including an original song and a cover. “I forgot if the title is ‘Christmas in New York’ or what it is, but this one is going to be awesome. And then ‘Last Christmas’, their new take on the George Michael song. That one is definitely one of my favorites too.
A Very Clandestine Christmas will include classics like “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, “Last Christmas”, “Silent Night” and originals like “Christmas In New York”, “Together” and “Happy Days”. The Target-exclusive release will include two additional tracks: “Feliz Navidad” and “It’s Christmastime Again.”
Will Littrell ever record his own Christmas project? “Never thought I’d say I’m looking forward to winter, but definitely a Christmas record one day. I mean, I might even think about doing that next year. He said that if he had to choose one Christmas song to record, it would be “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
Littrell has just released his latest single, “Change Your Mind”, inspired by his late grandmother and influenced by Morgan Wallen.
The song’s real stamp of approval came from his beloved “Gee”, his maternal grandmother. “My grandma was sitting on the porch and I asked her if I could play her a few songs and I played her a plethora of songs that I had recorded. And she said, ‘Well, I like better ‘Change Your Mind’.’ “Tragically, her grandmother died in June before the song was released. “I give Gee a lot of credit when she cast it… I wish she could have seen it come out, but I’m just glad that she had chosen him, she knew it.
In addition to his grandmother’s inspiration, “Change Your Mind” was also influenced by Morgan Wallen. “I heard ‘Quittin’ Time’ and I heard the harmonies and I was like, we need something similar to this song with the harmonies,” Littrell said.
As for other new music, Littrell teased, “I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve, but definitely new music…I don’t really have a schedule. I start to be creative. My mind has changed a bit on which direction to take. I was really thinking, album number two in July, but now I’m going to look, single in July and later this year I’ll probably release some more, but not all yet.
